Overview

Milleen Constructions is proud to be part of Australia’s clean energy transition through the delivery of specialist civil works for the Eraring Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) expansion. With a planned capacity of 700MW / 2,800MWh, this project is among the largest grid-scale battery installations in the country, located at Eraring Power Station in NSW.

Scope of Works
  • Completed critical Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) foundations to support grid integration
  • Installation of 12-metre permanent casings for 900mm diameter piles, forming part of the gantry foundations
  • Construction of a third 330kV Transformer compound and associated minor foundations & services
Outcome

The Eraring BESS expansion is a cornerstone in strengthening NSW’s energy grid, providing the ability to store and dispatch 700MW / 2,800MWh of renewable energy on demand. Milleen Constructions’ works — from OHTL foundations through to deep bored piling and the new
330kV transformer compound — are central to enabling the substation and grid connection infrastructure. Once complete, the project will significantly enhance grid reliability, support renewable integration, and mark a major step in Australia’s clean energy transition.
